John Lewis Opens in Cheltenham as part of Successful Regeneration by BlackRock Real Estate
John Lewis opened its 51st store to huge fanfare in Cheltenham on 18th October 2018.
The new £30m, 115,000sqft store lies on the site of the former Beechwood shopping centre – owned by the BlackRock UK Property Fund for 15 years. aspireDM were appointed as Development Manager and Development Project Manager in 2014 on this prestigious regeneration project, leading the development process including agreement for lease and lease negotiations, planning, procurement and construction.
Our bespoke service and proactive approach with the local authority and stakeholder groups was well received throughout and continues to deliver to the unique requirements of our client and tenant.
The store is one of the retailer’s 15 pilot shops – an initiative launched in 2018 which sees John Lewis explore new ideas and concepts, including Personal & Private Shopping experiences, across a national spread of selected shops. The 300 strong John Lewis workforce welcomed eager customers who queued outside the front doors.
